Connecting to Art with ArtClix

This is a fascinating article about downloading art to your smart phone with an app called ArtClix. This app was designed for The High Museum of Art in Atlanta and allows anyone to download images of the art work along with details about it. It also uses image recognition technology to allow users to get the same information with a photo of the artwork from their phone. Then it goes even further with a feature allowing you to comment on the work and join an online discussion about it within the app. The technology is fascinating as well as the social/community feature it employs. This sounds like a great way to engage younger audiences with the arts. Will smaller organizations be left out because they can't afford to hire someone with the technological know-how? Probably.
