Traditional Art to be Replaced by Our Home Computers?
In a world where technology seems to be taking over , many younger individuals are using it to their advantage when it comes to art. A Bronx student participating in an after-school art program at the Fred Dolan Art Academy was virtually un-inspired by the traditional methods of creating arts offered by the institution and, instead, and felt more in control of the spectacle he felt art should create by using his home computer and iPOD touch. Similar to how texting and e-mailing have virtually replaced the necessity to make an actual phone call to a friend, it seems as though today's generation of artists are more inspired by what they can create with technology. What does this mean regarding how society values a painting on a canvas vs. a light installation? Do the technological advances of today change our regard for this type of traditional art of the past that still exists today?
